Efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning may be subsidised under state energy efficiency schemes such as VEU. Availability varies by state — here’s what may apply; check your postcode.
Efficient reverse-cycle air conditioning may be subsidised under state energy efficiency schemes such as VEU (VIC), with availability varying by state, provider and product.
What support may be available for air conditioning
High-efficiency reverse-cycle air conditioners (which both heat and cool) may be an eligible upgrade under some state efficiency schemes — most notably the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program, often when replacing an older or inefficient system. The discount is typically applied upfront by an accredited provider.
State efficiency schemes — Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) in VIC, the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) in NSW and the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) in SA — deliver these as an upfront discount through accredited providers. Availability and amounts vary by state, provider and product, and change over time. Other states rely mainly on federal incentives. Verify current details before you commit.
Eligibility usually depends on the scheme, an approved product, an accredited installer and (often) replacing an existing system. Activity rules and amounts change — confirm current details before installing.
