LED lighting upgrades may be subsidised under state efficiency schemes — ESS (NSW), VEU (VIC) and REPS (SA) — and are especially valuable for commercial sites.
What support may be available for LED lighting
Replacing old lighting with efficient LEDs cuts energy use and maintenance. State efficiency schemes commonly support lighting upgrades — for businesses (offices, warehouses, retail, hospitality) the savings can be significant, and some residential lighting upgrades may also qualify. The discount is delivered upfront via an accredited provider.
State efficiency schemes — Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) in VIC, the Energy Savings Scheme (ESS) in NSW and the Retailer Energy Productivity Scheme (REPS) in SA — deliver these as an upfront discount through accredited providers. Availability and amounts vary by state, provider and product, and change over time. Other states rely mainly on federal incentives. Verify current details before you commit.
Eligibility depends on the scheme, the existing lighting being replaced, approved products and an accredited provider. Activity rules and amounts change — confirm current details.
